Dalwada Recipe

Hi guys,

Dalwada also known as Chana dal fritters is made of chana dal (split chickpeas). This is my mom’s recipe. I and my husband always asked my mom to cook dalwada when we visit her place. Now we are in Singapore so I can’t asked my mom so I asked her recipe and made it myself. Well guys it was delicious and yummy. I was like dancing when I ate it.

  • Serves: 3
  • Preparation Time: 15 mins
  • Cooking Time: 10 mins
  • Total Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Chana Dal (yellow split chick peas)
  • 1/4th cup rice
  • 8 to 10 cloves garlic
  • 3 green chilli (2 finely chopped and 1 whole)
  • 1 big or 2 small onion finely chopped
  • 1/4th cup coriander leaves
  • 2 pinch baking soda
  • salt to taste

Step by step recipe:

  • Soak dal and rice for 4 to 5 hours separately( If you soak overnight it would be better). I have soaked overnight.
  • Drain extra water from dal and rice. Add it to mixer jar. Also add garlic cloves and 1 green chilly.
  • Grind coarsely.
  • Take it in bowl and add baking soda and salt.
  • Add finely chopped green chillies (2), onion and coriander leaves.
  • Heat oil in pan or kadai
  • Once the oil is hot enough, add batter using fingers or spoon in pan.
  • Fry it till it becomes brown.
  • Serve hot with sauce or chilli.
